Stop code PRIVER VERIFER DMA VIOLATION

@Shelby_0710-, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The DRIVER VERIFIER DMA VIOLATION stop code typically indicates a problem with a driver that is not handling Direct Memory Access (DMA) correctly. This is often triggered when Memory Integrity or Driver Verifier is enabled in Windows, and a faulty or incompatible driver is detected.

Recommended Steps to Resolve:

Boot into Safe Mode (if normal boot fails)

If your notebook is stuck in a BSOD loop:

  • Power off the device.
  • Power it on and force shutdown as soon as the HP logo appears. Repeat 3 times.
  • On the 4th boot, Windows should enter Recovery Mode.
  • Go to Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Restart, then press F4 to boot into Safe Mode.

Disable Driver Verifier (if enabled)

If you manually enabled Driver Verifier:

  • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Run:verifier /reset
  • Restart your PC.

Disable Memory Integrity (Core Isolation)

This feature can trigger DMA violations if incompatible drivers are present.

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation Details.
  • Turn Memory Integrity OFF.
  • Restart your PC.

Update or Roll Back Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
  • Look for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark.
  • Right-click and choose Update driver or Roll back driver if the issue started after an update.

You can also use HP Support Assistant to automatically detect and update drivers: HP Support Assistant | HP® Support

Check for BIOS Updates

Outdated BIOS can cause hardware-level driver issues.

  • Visit the HP Software & Driver Downloads page: Official HP® Support
  • Enter your notebook model and check for BIOS updates.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To rule out hardware issues:

  • Restart your PC and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run System Tests > Extensive Test.

Additional Tips:

  • If you recently installed third-party drivers (e.g., from OEM sites), consider uninstalling them.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
