Storage upgrade options for C: Drive on 14-ck2025tu

Hi Community,

I teardown the 14-ck2025tu laptop to upgrade the RAM from 4Gb to 8Gb which worked great, but I went to upgrade the EMMC with a SSD or NVME I could not find a M.2 connector or anything for SSD's. Does anyone know if the storage for 14-ck2025tu can be upgraded. The 64GB EMMC is quite limited and I desperately need to expand the storage so that the C: System folder is not full.  If anyone knows the upgrade path that would be great. Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

The internal storage I believe is not upgradable. There is no M2 slot and the connector for a 2.5" SATA 3 Drive is not present on the motherboard.

The best idea would be to perform a clean install of Windows 10 on the machine. Update once installed and then perform disk cleaning to remove the temp update files.

Inert and SD card o a USB dongle and keep all personal files on these devices. You can move the personal folders (pictures, videos,download...) to this external device.

@iomare is correct in that there is no storage upgrade path for your model laptop.  You are stuck with the 64GB.

And while a clean install will work at first to free up space, Windows Update will then start filling up your "drive" with updates again and you will soon be running out of space again.

If you DO decide to do the clean install, then you should run these afterward to clean out the remnants of the Windows Updates.

Both WAWood and Iomare are correct and helpful. Sorry this forum does not allow the solution to share between you both. I would also suggest disabling Windows Reserved Storage, and permanently disabling Hibernate for an additional 15Gb of usable storage space if you have 8Gb memory, or even the 4Gb memory stick for this model. For additional gigabytes savings, lower your Pagefile to 1024Mb min and 1536 Mb max. I have saved 32Gb of space on the HP soldered 64Gb EMMC drive now 🙂
