Microsoft Windows 11

Hi,

I have a LG Ultrawide monitor connected to HP laptop with HDMI. I am using the Extend the displays option but the picture is stretched on the monitor. The only way I can view it not stretched is by adjusting the Aspect Ratio setting on the monitor to 'Original' but this means the picture is not widescreen leaving thick unfilled areas on both sides of the picture.

Within the laptop settings the Display resolution is set to 1920 x 1080 (Recommended). The option for 2560 x 1080 is not available.

I have checked the drivers and they are up to date.

This has just become a problem since I reconnected everything after a short period of being disconnected. Before, this wasn't an issue. When I use a different Dell laptop it works without any issues.

I had raised this on a Microsoft forum and feedback I received was that the intel driver needs to be uncapped to give the option for 2560 x 1080 resolution. As this was available up to a couple of weeks ago, I can only think a software upgrade has led to this. Is it possible to reverse this or install software that allows the 2560 x 1080 resolution?

Thanks.

On page 3 of its manual which says its HDMI v1.4b + HDCP 2.0 supporting 1080p up to 1920 × 1080 @ 60 Hz.

Hi,

The image on the connected monitor has only become stretched recently. Up to 2 weeks ago the resolution wasn't a problem. I don't think it's an issue with the monitor itself as when I connect a different laptop none of the settings need to be changed and the image is good. The difference is the other laptop has the option of a 2560x1080 resolution.

On another forum, somebody shared this link where others experienced the same issue where the resolution worked and then something changed - ‎Dell Vostro 15 3510 stopped WFHD (21:9) external monitor support | DELL Technologies

Sorry, I have no idea why it changed
