Since the Omen comes with customisable macro keys, it makes sense to allow the FN key to be customised for various scenarios.
I doubt it would take too long for the Omen team to roll out an update that allows the FN key to be inverted, and/or enabled as a 'toggle' within the command center.
It would make day-to-day life much easier, as I'm sure most people use the action keys during everyday tasks (volume keys etc) whereas they may need to use the function keys within games and in some programs.
Also, on an unrelated note, my keyboard lighting profile (the colours) often don't stick on startup, or they'll randomly revert back to the standard colours when locking/sleeping/hibernating. Any ideas what might cause this?

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries.
FN keys can be turned off/on using BIOS - action keys
use this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01612362
I would suggest you uninstall the Omen command center for the lighting profile issues from the Programs and feature.
Then, use this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04762483 to reinstall it.
Keep me posted, how it goes! However, we'll try and follow up in next 24 to 48 hours to doublecheck on the issue.
If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the Accepted Solution and Kudos buttons, that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!
Have a great day!

Hi Raj,
Thanks for your reply. I managed to fix the lighting issue by uninstalling the command center, restarting, reinstalling (from the Windows app store) and restarting again <-- If anyone has the same issue, follow these steps.
Regarding the FN keys, I am already familiar with the BIOS setting however that was not the question. I was asking if it was possible to turn the FN key into a toggle switch, rather than a temporary 'when pushed do this' type of switch.
To make it easier to understand, in the current state one must hold down the FN key in order to access the action functions of the F1-F12 keys. What I was after, was the ability to press the FN key once, making the F1-F12 keys operate fully as action (e.g play/pause, vol up/down etc.) keys regardless of whether FN is pressed, then when FN is pressed once more the keys revert back to being function (F1-F12) rather than actions.
I'm aware this isn't currently possible on HP systems, but a firmware update would surely enable it. Since some brands such as Toshiba offer this functionality through a user-level software GUI, it is certainly possible for HP to do the same, so could you enquire to the relevant teams about the possibility of adding this functionality in an update?
Cheers,
James
