Urgent Support Request: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU – Error Code 43 on HP Victus 16-d0097nr To HP Support, I am experiencing a persistent issue with my HP Victus laptop (Model: 16-d0097nr, Product Number: 421C9UA), specifically related to the dedicated GPU. Issue Summary: The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU is showing a Code 43 error in Device Manager: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43)." Troubleshooting Already Attempted: I have installed the latest NVIDIA drivers from both the NVIDIA website and HP Support Assistant. I tried rolling back to older drivers. I used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to completely remove and reinstall GPU drivers. I updated the laptop to the latest version of Windows 11 and installed all available updates. I installed the latest BIOS, chipset, and firmware updates from HP’s official support site. I verified settings in the BIOS and performed a full HP Diagnostics scan, which did not report any hardware faults. I also attempted a clean boot and confirmed that no third-party applications are interfering. Despite all of the above steps, the GPU still fails to initialize and remains disabled in Device Manager with the same Code 43 error. Request: Please advise whether this is a known driver or firmware compatibility issue for this model

Hi @shujja_laptop,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Victus 16-d0097nr and its NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The Code 43 error suggests there might be an issue with the graphics driver or the hardware itself. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Update or Reinstall the GPU Driver:

  • Go to the HP Support website and navigate to the drivers section for your specific laptop model.
  • Download the latest NVIDIA driver and install it. Alternatively, you can use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience software to update your driver.
  • If you already have the latest version, consider uninstalling the current driver and reinstalling it.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Ensure your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates may include fixes for hardware compatibility issues.

Reset the Device and Check Connections:

  • Sometimes resetting the laptop can resolve hardware issues. Shut down the laptop, disconnect any external devices, and restart.

Power and Performance Settings:

  • Check your power and performance settings to ensure the laptop is set to high performance rather than power-saving mode, which might affect GPU functionality.

Inspect for Hardware Issues:

  • Although uncommon, there may be a physical issue with the GPU. If none of the software solutions work, consider contacting HP support for a hardware inspection.

System Restore or Recovery:

  • If the issue began recently, a system restore to a prior date when the GPU was working can potentially resolve the error.

I hope this helps.

How can I contact HP Support for a hardware inspection? Additionally, with regard to GPUs, are they generally difficult to repair? Based on your knowledge, if a GPU experiences a hardware failure or becomes non-functional, is it typically repairable, or does a failure usually mean the GPU cannot be repaired?
