Hi @BR1710

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for sharing the details, Vinod. The error you're seeing—System Firmware UEFI\RES_{0D1EE282-C966-46E4-A574-91C9C7690F31}\0 – This device cannot start—typically points to a firmware or BIOS-related issue in Windows Device Manager. It often appears after a Windows or BIOS update and is flagged with a yellow warning icon.

What It Means

This error indicates that Windows is unable to properly initialize the system firmware interface (UEFI), which is essential for low-level hardware communication. It may be caused by:

  • A failed or incomplete BIOS update
  • A mismatch between Windows and firmware versions
  • Corrupted firmware drivers

How to Fix It

Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:

1. Update BIOS Manually

  • Go to the HP Drivers & Firmware page
  • Enter your product: HP Pavilion 16-af0000
  • Select your OS version (Windows 11)
  • Expand BIOS section and download the latest version
  • Run the installer and follow on-screen instructions carefully
(Ensure your laptop is plugged in and do not interrupt the update)

2. Update Chipset and Firmware Drivers

  • On the same HP support page, download and install:
    • Intel Chipset Driver
    • System Firmware – UEFI Update

3. Clear the Error from Device Manager

  • Press Windows + X > Device Manager
  • Expand Firmware or System Devices
  • Right-click the entry with the error > Uninstall device
  • Restart your laptop—Windows should reinstall the correct driver automatically

4. Run HP Support Assistant

  • Download or open HP Support Assistant
  • Check for updates and install any recommended firmware or BIOS patches

Let’s get your system firmware back to full health.
