HP Notebook - 17-by1022cl
Microsoft Windows 11

Two new laptops from HP last week.  Both identical win Win11 & Office 2024.  Neither will accept the product keys for Office.

When I was searching on the MS site for why that might be happening, the first thing they said to do is check the product key with ShowKeyPlus.  The result is "Win 10 RTM Core OEM:DM".    I don't know if that has anything to do with why MS won't accept our Office keys-- but it just doesn't seem right.       Is it wrong?  How can I fix it?   Any thoughts on why the Office keys [sent in emails after we opened Office] don't work?

Thanks

You're very welcome.

If you have a 15t-fe100, yes those are new models (currently out of stock at HP).

I don't have any PC's that came from the factory with W11 so I can't confirm what the Showkey Plus report indicates on any of mine.

I any event, the W10 product key is good for both W10 and W11 and visa versa.

Microsoft may not have ever changed that OEM info from W10 > W11 in the BIOS when W11 came out in 2021.

Why the Office product keys aren't activating that I do not know, but it definitely has no relation to the Windows product key.

The Windows product keys would have nothing to do with the Office product keys not working, and the 17-by1022cl notebooks are at least 5 years old and originally came with Windows 10.

HP 17-by1022cl 17.3" Laptop Computer Refurbished - Gray; Intel Core i5-8265U Processor 1.6GHz; 8GB D...

So that would explain why there are W10 OEM product keys in the BIOS.

You will have to contact Microsoft to get help with activating Office.

Apparently the site filled in the info on my hardware from the last time I was here.   These computers are new - from system info;  Model HP Envy x360 2-in-1 Laptop 15t-fe100

And thank you, BTW--- You gave me a start there.    I'm looking to see where I change that in my profile.

Thanks again.    The original problem fixed itself.  I logged on to both computers and no longer get the 'license expires on Thursday' message.          I'll give it a few days and try the product ID again to see if I can get the  win10/11 thing straightened out.   Appreciate your help & knowledge.
