T630 BIOS update on Linux

Hi, i recently purchased a old T630, looking at the BIOS i see it's on the V01.10. 

I have installed Zorin OS on it & try to update the bios but can't find the right way to do it, every time i get a error "File is missing or damaged", i tried 0112.bin; 0117.bin; 0118.bin raw on the key or inside tree folders nothing do.

Hi:

First, you have to make a USB BIOS recovery drive using a Windows PC.

Updating from Computer Setup (F10)

The HP Thin Client supported by this Softpaq provides a BIOS upgrade option through Computer setup (F10) using the “Flash System ROM” feature. Reboot the thin client and press F10 to enter Computer Setup. In the File menu, select the “Flash System ROM” item.

This method requires that a Recovery USB flash drive be present which containing the BIOS binary image file and flash utility in the HP folder.

The Recovery USB flash drive image can be created by the M40_0118.exe in Windows environment.

If a BIOS Setup password has been set, the password will be required before being able to access the "Flash System ROM" menu.

The user is notified when the process is completed.

The new BIOS code will not take effect until the thin client is restarted. The M40_0118.exe file can be found in the Win folder.

I have a t630, but I updated the BIOS in Windows.

I just ran the latest file on my Dell PC.

The file opened and an information screen shows up.

I recommend you use the F10 setup BIOS flash method which the above instructions are for.

Be aware that when you run the M40_0118.exe file on another Windows PC, it will take a little while (20-30 seconds) for the Window to create a USB recovery drive to appear.

My PC acted a little strangely during that 20-30 second period.

I knew it would do this from running other HP USB BIOS recovery creation files before.

When the window appears, the only option you should be presented with is to create a USB BIOS recovery flash drive.

You should be OK using a 1 GB flash drive or more for this purpose.

Hi, Is there any others way than loosing time to ddl a Win iso & install it on a drive i don't have ? (No i don't have Windows pc anymore since Win7 end support)

Skimming through the instructions, it seems like either Windows or HP's Thin OS comes into play no matter what.

I have zero knowledge of the HP Thin OS, or any other OS but Windows.

I removed the useless (for Windows) 8 GB M.2 SATA SSD mine came with and bought a 250 GB SATA SSD when I got the PC new on eBay for $60 a few years ago, which is why I can run W10 Pro on it.
