Hello everyone,

I am experiencing an issue with my HP Pavilion 15-ec laptop. Windows is unable to detect TPM 2.0, which is preventing Windows Update and installation of Windows 11.

  • Problem:

    • In Device Manager, only AMD PSP 10.0 is listed under Security Devices.

    • Pressing tpm.msc in Windows shows “Compatible TPM cannot be found”.

    • BIOS settings: TPM Device = Enabled, TPM State = Enabled, Clear TPM = Done, Secure Boot = Enabled.

    • Latest BIOS/UEFI has been installed.

  • Steps Already Tried:

    • Enabled/Disabled TPM in BIOS

    • Cleared TPM

    • Enabled Secure Boot

    • Updated BIOS to the latest version

Despite all these steps, Windows still cannot detect TPM 2.0. This is blocking updates and Windows 11 installation.

Hi @Ab408,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Based on your description and the research, your HP Pavilion 15-ec laptop is affected by a known issue where the TPM 2.0 device is not detected, even though it's enabled in the BIOS. This issue is particularly common on systems with AMD processors using AMD PSP (Platform Security Processor) instead of a discrete TPM chip.

Steps to Resolve:

  1. Download the Correct BIOS Update
  2. Install the BIOS Update
    • Run the downloaded .exe file.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to update the BIOS.
    • Ensure your laptop is plugged into power, and do not interrupt the update process.

  3. After BIOS Update:
    • Reboot and enter BIOS (F10 at startup).
    • Confirm:
      • TPM Device = Enabled
      • TPM State = Enabled
      • Secure Boot = Enabled

  4. Check TPM Status in Windows
    • Press Windows + R, type tpm.msc, and press Enter.
    • You should now see TPM 2.0 listed with manufacturer details.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
