The Omen key on my Omen laptop is unresponsive.

I am running Windows 11.  When I was on Windows 10, HP gave me the solution to the same issue:  Download and install sp80856 and sp81404.

They solved the issue when I was on "10", but it seems to not be the case in Windows 11.

Any idea what to do as a next step?

Hi @CWBillow1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the HP Omen key on your Omen laptop is unresponsive after upgrading to Windows 11, and the previous solution provided by HP for Windows 10 isn't working, there are a few steps you can try.

  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your Windows 11 installation is fully up to date. Sometimes, system updates can resolve compatibility issues or bugs that may be causing keyboard problems.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure all your device drivers, especially those related to the keyboard and system input, are up to date. You can do this through the Device Manager in Windows or by visiting HP's support website to download and install the latest drivers for your laptop model.
  • Keyboard Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooting tools that can help diagnose and fix common keyboard issues. You can access the Keyboard troubleshooter by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Keyboard > Run the troubleshooter.
  • Reset Keyboard Settings: Sometimes, resetting keyboard settings can resolve issues. You can do this by going to Settings > Devices > Typing, then scroll down and click on "Advanced keyboard settings" and "Reset to defaults".
  • Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the physical condition of your keyboard for any signs of damage or debris that may be causing keys to be unresponsive. Clean the keyboard carefully using compressed air or a soft brush to remove any debris.
  • Rollback to Windows 10 (if feasible): If the issue persists and it's critical for your work, you might consider rolling back to Windows 10 temporarily until a more compatible solution is available for Windows 11.

Remember to backup your important data before attempting any major changes to your system, such as rolling back to a previous version of Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
