OMEN MAX 16 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-ak0000 (A4UX3AV)

I've had the laptop for two days now. I use it as a desktop with a monitor, mouse and keyboard. It is connected to the power supply. If I stop working with it, the power supply will be turned off with a power strip.

When I shut down the laptop, it still loses power. I turned it off at 80 percent and when I restarted it, it was at 30 percent. What is the problem ?

Problem solved.

I disabled USB-C charging in the BIOS.Those were my two NVMe drives in the external enclosure. They were consuming power. Now the LEDs are off as well. I hadn't noticed that before.

Power Drain Issue with OMEN MAX 16-inch Gaming Laptop

It seems you're experiencing a power drain issue with your OMEN MAX 16-inch Gaming Laptop (16-ak0000) when using it as a desktop setup. Here are some steps and tips that can help you address this issue:

  1. Check BIOS and Firmware Updates:

    • Ensure your BIOS is up-to-date. Visit the HP Support website to check for any available BIOS or firmware updates for your specific model.
  2. Verify Battery Health:

    • Open the HP Support Assistant and run a battery check to see if the battery is healthy or if there might be a hardware issue causing the drain.
  3. Power Settings Configuration:

    • Make sure that your power settings are correctly configured to minimize power drain when the laptop is shut down. Go to Control Panel > Power Options and adjust the plan settings.
    • Ensure Hibernate is disabled if you intend the laptop to stay off and not enter a low-power state.
  4. Advanced Power Management:

    • Check in the BIOS for any advanced power management settings that might impact how the laptop manages power when off.
  5. Battery Calibration:

    • Consider calibrating your battery. Fully charge the laptop, leave it on charge for a few hours, then let it discharge completely before charging it back to 100%.
  6. Test Without Peripherals:

    • Disconnect all peripherals (monitor, mouse, keyboard) and check if the issue persists. Some peripherals can cause power draw even when the system is off.
  7. Power Supply Checks:

    • Use the original power adapter supplied with your laptop to ensure proper power delivery.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
