Hi!
First of all try re-registering Word as follows: Exit Word if it is currently running. Hold the Windows logo key as you press R; in the Run dialog box, type winword /r and press Enter (note that there is a space before the slash, but not after it). After Word completes re-configuration, see if things work normally.
If it does not work try this online service - https://onlinefile.repair/en/word.html

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
From personal experience, I know that if a machine shuts down while a Word document is being edited, it creates a backup copy of the file.
Then, when you restart the PC, Word offers to "recover" the backup it saved.
If Word is not offering you any Recovery option, then the file is gone. And it that is the case, the ONLY way you will get the file back is using Data Recovery applications.
What you can try is using this utility: http://www.majorgeeks.com/news/story/recover_data_in_3_steps_with_minitool_power_data_recovery_free_...
Run the data recovery utility to see what can be retrieved from the drive.
But, since this has been several months, most likely, the original data present in the Word document has been long overwritten -- and if that is the case, it is unrecoverable.
Good Luck
