Microsoft Windows 11

I try to install applications outside of the Microsoft Store, but every time it says "this isn't a Microsoft approved app". I would like a tutorial how to fix that

Welcome to the HP Community --

Are you running Widows S-Mode?

If yes, then Windows S-Mode only supports installing apps from the  Microsoft Store

If running standard / full Windows version,

check / Adjust Settings > Apps

Find and adjust the sources from which you are allowed to download / install apps

Example - Windows 11

Settings > Apps > Advanced app settings

Choose where to get apps

Windows 10 and Windows 11 in S mode FAQ

Reminder, this is a One-Way-Ticket:  Once you leave “S” mode, you cannot go back to “S” mode.

If your product ships with Windows in S Mode: Windows in S Mode works exclusively with apps from the Microsoft Store within Windows. Certain default settings, features, and apps cannot be changed. Some accessories and apps that are compatible with Windows may not work (including some antivirus, PDF writers, driver utilities, and accessibility apps), and performance may vary, even if you switch out of S Mode. If you switch to Windows, you cannot switch back to S Mode. Learn more at Windows 10 and Windows 11 in S mode FAQ
