Chrome OS

Hello.

I want to install Thundebird email Client in a Chromebook. It isn't available in Playstore or in Chrome webstore.

In some forums is explained that the only way to install is from Linux options. But this mode can invalidate the warranty? Is there another way?

Thank you.

kind regards.

Beppe

OK...

We can only provide our opinions about any Warranty question.

"We" are not HP Support.

What does that mean?

My opinion

The Warranty - if it is the standard hardware warranty included with the device - does not normally include the Operating System beyond the details included in the Warranty document.

HP Limited Warranty Statements (General Information)

Standard Warranty, that is, the warranty included with the device, typically covers hardware as explained in the Warranty document.  Optional Care Pack warranties differ by contract.

My interpretation

Do what you like with the Operating System.

Should your device need warranty repair service,

And, as a part of the repair process, should it be necessary that HP reload the OS,

HP will reload the original OS without regard to what you installed.

Keep your backups current.

Do not expect HP to support any changes to the OS - this includes any problems you have installing Linux.

(Mozilla) Thunderbird is a vastly popular email client.

I checked for you - at this writing - Thunderbird is still supported on Windows, MacOS, and Linux.

ChromeOS is not in the list of supported platforms.

Should you wish to do so, contact the good people at Thunderbird and ask for more information.

Hello Dragon-Fur,

thank you for your suggests,😄 but I've already asked to Thunderbird people and I've also seen Chrome Support in Google.

Here there is a link that explain that only way is using the linux command: sudo apt-get install thunderbird

Thunderbird people confirmed that is the only way.

I'm asking if this way can invalidate the HP warranty...

Thank you.

Best regards.
