Hello, It occurs sometimes that my touchpad does not work. Previously I only had to restart the laptop once for it to work, but now it is happening more frequently. For example, this morning I switched off the laptop twice and restarted it, but still the touchpad does not function. Can someone help me, please?

Hi @MP972

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating it must be to have your HP Pavilion touchpad intermittently stop working, especially since restarting used to fix it. Let’s go through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue.

1. Toggle the Touchpad On/Off

  • Some HP laptops allow you to disable/enable the touchpad by double-tapping the upper-left corner of the touchpad.
  • Try double-tapping that area to see if it reactivates.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Power off your laptop.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power on the laptop.

3. Update Touchpad Drivers

  • Visit the HP Support page for your HP Pavilion model.
  • Download and install the latest touchpad driver.

4. Check Touchpad Settings

  • Open SettingsDevicesTouchpad.
  • Ensure the touchpad is enabled and sensitivity is set correctly.

5. Test Touchpad in HP Diagnostics

  • Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly.
  • Select F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the Touchpad Test.

6. Watch HP Troubleshooting Video

You can follow this HP Touchpad Fix Guide for additional steps.
