EliteBook 8470P
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have recently purchased a refurbished EliteBook 8470P from a major retailer in the USA.  I now find that the touch pad responds to taps ONLY in about 25% of the touch pad area (generally, a small area near the left center portion of the touch pad). The remaining area of the touch pad is active and can be used to move the cursor.  However, when I tap the pad anywhere outside that exact 25% area, the tap does not activate the cursor at the new location.  Very ittitating!  It has taken me as many as EIGHT taps to get the cursor to relocate.  I do not know if the touch pad is defective or if it can be reconfigured to accept tap sensitivity across the total touch pad area.  That is my question - can the touch pad be reconfigured to accept taps in all areas of the pad?  BTW, I live outide the USA and therefore cannot return to the store where the computer was purchased for help.  I am a computer user, not a techie, so any information on reconfiguring (if possible) needs to be pretty specific for me to follow.  Thank you.
