This is so FRUSTRATING!  Microsoft seems committed to breaking this touchpad.  I followed the instructions from markharris2000, which involved uninstalling the driver and the software, then launching SP81891.exe to initiate the installation of driver 19.3.31.31.

This worked perfectly; the legacy software was installed and it solved all of my issues.  However - I made the mistake of NOT changing my automatic update settings in Windows - I actually didn't give it a though - and an update was pushed to my system and the Synaptics software is broken again.

I went through the same steps as the first time - but I was unable to remove the Synaptics app; it does not show up on any list anywhere.  It is a ghost.  I tried installing the SP81891 multiple times, but it fails each time.

Any thoughts?
