Product Details:
Laptop Model: HP 17t-by200 CTO
Operating System: Windows 11 64-bit
BIOS: Latest version installed
Issue Description:
When I select the "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" driver in Device Manager, the basic mouse functions and buttons work, but scrolling and zoom gestures do not work.
When I select the "ELAN Touchpad" driver, scrolling and zoom gestures work, but the mouse buttons do not respond, and the touchpad settings panel does not appear (it always remains missing).
In Bluetooth & devices (Windows Settings), the touchpad is listed, but when I click on it to open its settings, no touchpad options are available — the page is blank or missing controls.
Troubleshooting Already Done:
1. Tested multiple drivers, including the latest ELAN driver dated 05 May 2020 21.2.28.7 (from HP’s official website).
2. Uninstalled drivers and let Windows reinstall automatically — issue still exists.
3. Updated to the latest BIOS version from HP Support.
4. Restarted the system multiple times after driver changes.
Problem Summary:
I cannot get both buttons and gestures working together. Also, the ELAN touchpad settings are never accessible in Windows settings or Control Panel, even though the touchpad is detected under Bluetooth & devices.
Request:
Please provide a working driver or fix so that both gestures and buttons work together, and the ELAN settings become accessible.

@Huzaifa2000, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Touchpad Gestures or Buttons on HP 17t-by200 CTO!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you're experiencing issues with touchpad gestures or buttons not working properly on your HP 17t-by200 CTO with Windows 11, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
Driver Settings:
Update Drivers:
- Ensure you have the latest drivers installed for both the touchpad and the mouse. You can download updated drivers from the HP Support website.
- You may also use Windows Update to check for the latest driver updates.
Switching Between Drivers:
- If switching drivers causes issues with functionality, make sure you're using the most suitable driver.
- The "ELAN Touchpad" driver is typically used for managing touchpad gestures such as scrolling and zooming.
Adjusting Touchpad Settings:
- Access touchpad settings by searching for 'touchpad settings' in the Start Menu and adjusting the settings as necessary.
- Navigate to the 'Hardware and Sound' section in Control Panel and select 'Mouse' to see if specific options for your touchpad appear.
- Check if your model supports a precision touchpad, which might offer more customizable settings under Windows Settings > Bluetooth & Devices > Touchpad.
Device Manager Configuration:
Device Manager Options:
- Ensure that you do not have conflicting settings in Device Manager.
- Right-click on "PS/2 Compatible Mouse" or "ELAN Touchpad" and select "Properties". Make sure that both are enabled, if applicable.
Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers:
- Sometimes uninstalling a driver and reinstalling can resolve the conflict. To do this, go to Device Manager, right-click the problematic driver, select "Uninstall," and then restart your computer. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver, or you can reinstall it manually.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
