@Omen01600, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Touchpad Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your touchpad works in BIOS but not within your operating system, it indicates a possible driver or software configuration issue. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Verify Touchpad Status

  • Ensure the touchpad on/off light is not amber (which indicates disabled). You can double-tap the touchpad light or button to enable it.

Check Device Manager

  • Verify if the touchpad device is listed in Device Manager under Mice and other pointing devices.

Install Latest Touchpad Driver

  • Go to HP’s support website and download the latest driver for your touchpad. Install it and see if this resolves the issue.

Adjust Touchpad Settings

  • Navigate to Control Panel > Mouse settings, and make adjustments to touchpad settings as needed.

Test Touchpad Functionality

  • Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) tool to test the touchpad’s functionality. You can perform Mouse Tests, including Pointer Test & Drag and Drop Test.

Check Touchpad Connections

  • For authorized service providers or technicians:
    • Check the touchpad cable for any damage or loose connections. Reseat the touchpad cable if necessary.
    • If the issue persists after checking cables, consider replacing the touchpad hardware and verify if the problem is resolved.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
