Experiencing lag and unintentional clicks when using the touchpad on your HP EliteBook 840 G8 Notebook PC can be frustrating. Here are some steps you can try to resolve these issues:

  1. Update Touchpad Drivers:

    • Visit the HP Support website and download the latest touchpad drivers for your HP EliteBook 840 G8. Install them and restart your laptop to see if the issue is resolved.
  2. Check Windows Updates:

    • Ensure that your Windows operating system is up to date, as updates often include fixes for bugs and performance issues.
  3. Adjust Touchpad Settings:

    • Go to 'Settings' > 'Devices' > 'Touchpad'. Modify sensitivity settings to see if it reduces the problem. You can try a lower sensitivity level to prevent unintended clicks.
  4. Check for Software Conflicts:

    • Make sure no software is creating conflicts. Close unnecessary applications before watching videos on YouTube to minimize resource usage.
  5. Scan for Malware:

    • Run a full system scan using antivirus software to ensure there are no malware infections impacting system performance.
  6. Temporary Disable Touchpad Gestures:

    • You might find temporary relief by disabling multitouch gestures in the touchpad settings.
  7. Hardware Troubleshooting:

    • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, consider performing a diagnostic test on your hardware. HP provides built-in diagnostics tools to help identify hardware-related problems.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
