Hi @KPG777,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion Aero 13 laptop’s touchpad has stopped working and doesn’t even appear in Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad, here’s a structured approach to fix it:

Step-by-Step Fix for Missing Touchpad on Windows 11

1. Check Device Manager

  1. Press Windows + X → choose Device Manager
  2. Expand Human Interface Devices and Mice, and other pointing devices
  3. Look for:
    • HID-compliant touchpad
    • I2C HID Device
  4. If missing or showing a yellow warning:
    • Right-click and choose Scan for hardware changes
    • If found, right-click → Enable device
    • If not found, proceed to reinstall drivers

2. Reinstall Touchpad Driver

  1. Visit the official HP support page for your model:
    👉 Official HP® Support
  2. Download and install the latest SynapticsElan, or Precision Touchpad driver (depending on your model)
  3. Restart your laptop

3. Enable Touchpad in BIOS

Sometimes the touchpad is disabled at the firmware level:

  1. Restart your laptop and press Esc or F10 to enter BIOS
  2. Navigate to Advanced > Built-in Device Options
  3. Make sure Touchpad is set to Enabled
  4. Save and exit

4. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Unfortunately still not working.

The only step I couldn't find was step 2 in point 3 (advanced option in BIOS).  I got into BIOS but couldn't find the advanced option?

Not sure if that will help - tried everything else

Thanks for your help
