Hello, since I bought this laptop and after installing windows 11,  the touchpad randomly stops working. It only works when a fresh install of windows 11 is done, or uninstalling and installing again the drivers available for HID I2C Synapse touchpad, but the touchpad stops working after a fewdays, probably caused by an automatically installed drivers. I have tried All of the following but it keeps stop working:

Disable and Re-enable the Device in Device Manager

  • Open Device Manager and locate the I2C HID Device under Human Interface Devices.
  • Right-click on the device and select Disable. Wait a few moments, then right-click again and select Enable.
  • This can refresh the device and potentially resolve driver conflicts.

Update Chipset Drivers

  • The I2C HID device is linked to the system's chipset. Go to the HP support page for your specific model and download the latest chipset drivers from the Driver-Chipset section. Install and restart the PC.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Open Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Ensure that your system is fully updated with the latest patches, especially those related to hardware and device drivers.

Install Intel Serial IO Driver

  • The Intel Serial IO driver manages communication between the CPU and various hardware devices, including I2C devices.
  • Go to the Intel website or your HP support page and download the latest Intel Serial IO driver.

Run the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

  • Open a Command Prompt as Administrator.
  • Type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and press Enter.
  • Run the troubleshooter and let it detect and fix any hardware issues.

BIOS Update

  • Check the HP support page for any BIOS updates available for your specific model.
  • BIOS updates often include fixes for hardware-related issues. Install any available updates and restart the laptop.

Disable Windows Fast Startup

  • Sometimes, Fast Startup causes issues with I2C devices.
  • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Uncheck Turn on fast startup and save the changes.
  • Restart your laptop and see if this resolves the error.

Currently the HID I2C Driver shows a Warning on device manager, what can I do now?

Hi @Globalnaya ,

Thank you for choosing HP Community,

How to fix the HID I2C driver warning

  1. Disable automatic driver updates:
    • Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
    • Right-click on the I2C HID Device and select Properties.
    • Go to the Drivers tab and click Driver Details.
    • Ensure the "Driver is digitally signed" option is checked.
    • Go to View and click on Devices by connection.
    • Under the ACPI branch, find the I2C HID device and the Touchpad, then uninstall both.
  1. Uninstall the driver and related components:
    • Right-click the HID I2C Device and select Uninstall device.
    • Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device.
    • Go to Mice and other pointing devices, right-click on your touchpad driver (e.g., "HID-compliant touchpad") and select Uninstall device.
    • Click Action and then Scan for hardware changes.
  1. Install the manufacturer's driver:
    • Install the driver and restart your laptop.
  1. Disable Fast Startup (if it persists):
    • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do.
    • Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
    • Uncheck Turn on fast startup and save your changes.
  1. Final check:
    • After restarting, the touchpad should now be working correctly. If the issue reappears, it might be due to a conflict with another application or a hardware failure. In this case, you may need to contact HP support for further assistance.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
