The touchscreen worked for about a year and has stopped working. I have followed all the trouble shooting steps but get stuck on the following: In Device Manager there is no option for HID touschreen. It is not in hidden either.

I did the recommended BIOS update and it didn't change things.

I tried the UEFI test but it does not give me the option to test for the touch screen in components.

I am fully up to date on all updates.

I have restarted the computer.

what else can I do?

Hi @HomeschoolHope,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If the touchscreen on your HP notebook has stopped working and the HID touchscreen device is not listed in the Device Manager, here are some additional steps you can take to resolve the issue:

  1. Check for Physical Damage: Ensure that there is no physical damage to the screen that might prevent it from functioning properly.

  2. Re-enable the Touchscreen through Control Panel:
    • Go to "Control Panel".
    • Select "Hardware and Sound" > "Pen and Touch".
    • Switch to the "Touch" tab and make sure "Use your finger as an input device" is selected.

  3. Check Windows Services:
    • Press Windows Key + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
    • Look for the "Human Interface Device Service". Make sure it is running. If it's stopped, start it and set it to start automatically.

  4. System Restore:
    • If the touchscreen worked recently and then stopped, consider using System Restore to return your computer to a point when it was working.

  5. Driver Reinstallation:
    • Even though the HID touchscreen is not showing, make sure that drivers for other similar HID devices are installed and updated. Reinstalling these may inadvertently correct the problem.

  6. Contact HP Support:
    • If you have gone through all the troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, it might be a hardware-related problem. Contact HP support for further diagnostics or repair options.

HP Support Assistant can also offer tools and options to help you troubleshoot and ensure your equipment is up-to-date.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
