Hi,

I get a prompt from the HP Support Assistant that the BIOS need updating. When I try through the installer, I get an error stating that there is insufficient disc space. Following this guide, I save the update to a USB drive. Then I take a photo of the system information. When I get to the step "Select the BIOS update file that matches the system board ID", I can see 3 files: 087FD.bin, 089BB.bin, and 087FE.bin. I'm not clear which one I should select as the guide mentions the System Board ID but the system information does not have this entry:

System Model: HP laptop 15s-fq2xxx

System SKU: 35A88EA#ABE

BIOS version/Date:  AMI F.21, 21/03/2023

SMBIOS Version 3.3

Embedded Controller Version: 57.20

BIOS Mode: UEFI

Baseboard product: 87FE

@Barnez1,

Your current bios bin file should be stored in the efi partition on the hard drive, and you can view it from F2 HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI so check to see if it is 087FE.bin or something else. Please follow the steps in the post below.

@Barnez1 ,

The screenshot below is step #12 of the section "Update the BIOS with a USB Flash Drive" in your HP link. It says that an update BIOS bin file consists of 0 + system board (baseboard product) ID hence your correct bin file is 087FE.bin. Good luck on BIOS update.

Thank you for the reply. When I select the 087FE.bin file, the update fails with the error message: "The specified BIOS image file is not suitable for this system." In the USB I am selecting, "Hewlett-Packard" >> "BIOS" >> "Current".
