Trying to update BIOS, but HP Support Solutions Framework was not installed successfully. An error occurred during the installation -3

I am getting a message to say my primary internal battery has problems (601)

It looks like you're dealing with two separate issues: a BIOS update failure and a battery error (601). Here’s how to troubleshoot both:

 

 

Fixing HP Support Solutions Framework Installation Error (-3)

Run HP Support Assistant

  • Download and install HP Support Assistant manually.
  • Open the app and check for BIOS updates from there.

Install BIOS Update Manually

  • Go to HP’s driver support page for your laptop model.
  • Download the latest BIOS update and install it directly.

Disable Antivirus & Run as Administrator

  • Some security software can block installations.
  • Temporarily disable antivirus and right-click the installer > Run as Administrator.

 

Fixing Battery Error (601)

  • The 601 error means your battery’s storage capacity is below 25% of its original level.
  • Try removing the battery and booting with just the AC adapter—if the error persists, the battery likely needs replacement.
  • You can check HP’s official guide on battery errors here.
