So idk if this is the right board, but right now my laptop will not receive charge while it is powered on. It will however charge when it is in sleep mode or powered off. I’ve asked around on what the issue is and people have told me to update BIOS. So I downloaded it and when my laptop was restarting to install BIOS, it said that I need to connect my laptop to my charger to complete the install. This creates an issue as you can probably guess. So is an outdated BIOS the issue? Or is it a hardware issue? I’m really desperate here any help would be appreciated!

Is you Notebook booting up right now after the failed BIOS update?
If your Notebook is booting up, I suggest you charge the Battery first
You will probably have to leave the Notebook powered off and charge the batteries
Once the batteries are charged reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter ( For Notebooks with Removable Batteries )
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter and restart
Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers again
If the issue persists run a Battery and Ac Adapter Test to confirm the Hardware Functionality
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery / Ac Adapter
Let me know how it goes 😊

Hello! And I actually got BIOS to work but the laptop still while not charge when turned on.
I tried the test 2 times. The first time it did not detect the ac adapter, the second time it did (after I unplugged it from the power cord for 10 secs) and it said it was fine after a very brief 2 second test. I tried it with the new adapter I recently purchased and I got similar results. The computer will recognize the adapter and charge (as indicated by the orange charging light) for one or two seconds and then immediately stop (charging light changes to white).
at this point I believe it’s the charging port but I’m no computer expert.

If the issue persists after the BIOS update, then it is likely to be a Hardware issue
