My laptop has recently started beeping whenever it goes into sleep mode.  How can I turn this off?

Hi @BradDavis1234,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are looking to turn off the beeping sound that occurs when your HP Pavilion laptop enters sleep mode, you can try the following steps:

  • Access Control Panel: Open the Control Panel on your Windows 11 system. You can do this by typing "Control Panel" into the search bar or by pressing the Windows key, typing "Control Panel", and hitting Enter.
  • Power Options: Within the Control Panel, navigate to the "Hardware and Sound" section. Then, click on "Power Options".
  • Change Plan Settings: You should see your current power plan highlighted. Click on "Change plan settings" next to your active power plan.
  • Change Advanced Power Settings: On the next screen, look for the "Change advanced power settings" link. Click on it.
  • Advanced Power Settings: A new window will appear with advanced power settings. Here, you can customize various power options.
  • Find Sleep Settings: Locate the "Sleep" option in the list of power settings and expand it.
  • Disable Beeping: Look for an option related to system sounds or beeping while entering sleep mode. It might be labeled as "System unattended sleep timeout" or something similar. Disable or set the value to "None" or "0" to turn off the beeping sound.
  • Apply Changes: After making the necessary changes, click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the settings.
  • Restart: It's a good practice to restart your laptop to ensure that the changes take effect properly.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
