HP 15-db0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Bought HP 15-db0xxx in May and have been trying to turn the touchpad off. What ever happened to the on/off switch that all my other HPs had at or near the touch pad? I'm close to gluing a piece of laminate over the touchpad so that I can type without constantly having to stop and correct because of accidently hitting touchpad.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

To turn the touchpad off, click "Start" and then "Control Panel." Double-click the "Mouse" settings. Click the "Device Settings" tab, and click "Disable" to disable the touchpad. You can select "Enable" to use it again.

To Disable TouchPad feature, open the TouchPad tab in Mouse Properties.

  1. Click Start , and then type mouse in the search field.

  2. Click Change your mouse settings.

  3. Click Additional mouse options.

    Clicking on Additional mouse options

  4. In Mouse Properties, click the TouchPad tab.

NOTE: Some HP notebooks have an HP Control Zone tab. If your notebook has this tab, open it and click HP Control Zone Disable.

If the properties window does not have a TouchPad option, then the TouchPad functionality is not available.

  5. Click Disable.

    Clicking on Disable

  6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I appreciate your time, but I still have no luck turning off touchpad. Apparently I don't have the option of turning touchpad on/off. Mouse properties does not show a touchpad tab. I've owned a dozen or so HP laptops and have never had any problems turning touchpad on/off as needed. I still have 3 older HP laptops that I can use until I get rid of this brick. Now that gives me one more thing to look for when I buy another laptop. Once again, I want to thank you for your time to attempt to answer my question.
