HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC 15-fd0000 (9R7K7AV)

I was forced to turn off S Mode due to the requirements of my company requirements. What is the best free antivirus protection I can get to protect my laptop?

Hard to say which one is the best. What is trash for someone may be gold for another.

In my personal opinion, the free apps (which are not coming from Microsoft) are not as efficient and are there more for marketing reason rather than real security. The consumer cybersecurity market is very noncompetitive nowadays.

I myself am fan of Windows Defender - free security solution built-into Windows itself, coming from Microsoft. It is effective against the majority of threats and is free of charge, usually trouble-free for the user. Is also based on Microsoft's cyber security and intelligence.

You can also complement your security by using AutoRun Eater (protection against malware that spreads via USB disks/pendrives) >> https://www.softpedia.com/get/Security/Secure-cleaning/Autorun-Eater.shtml

I would certainly install ad-blocking browser addon/extension such as uBlock Origin (Firefox)and Facebook Container (Firefox)

or uBlock Origin Lite (Chrome/Edge)  +  Disconnect (Chrome/Edge)
