Anybody know how to type the special characters on an HP laptop keyboard?

Need to be able to TYPE special characters (e.g. É, ê, ë, etc.) on the laptop directly from the keyboard.  On a full 101 keyboard alt+0234 etc. does the job, and I have seen on some laptops numeric keys are marked on the u, i, o, j, k, l, etc. keys and they work, but HP doesn't mark a numeric keybaord.

I'm a Vietnamese original and I have to type Vietnamese characters nearly everyday on my laptops using normal English (US) keyboards. I use a software to type Vietnamese characters, for example :

Chào bạn, bạn có mạnh khoẻ không ? (Hi, how are you?) - Please do not use Google translate, I know what I'm saying.

Now, back to your question, Alt codes may NOT work. You have to use a proper keyboard (HP sells machines with keyboards for different countries) or in my case, I use a software on standard English (US) keyboards. You should be able to find a similar software for your language or please try Windows 10 options on keyboard.
