I need to stop UAC prompts for Omen System Optimiser, It is for a standard user so need to set up shortcut to allow automatic administrator opening. To do this I need a shortcut, but it is not a stand alone programme it is part of Omen Gaming Hub. I do not want to turn of UAC altogether as that is very risky and obviously for the same reason I cannot give the user admin privileges or my admin code. any suggestions?

Hi @Johnb991,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To stop UAC prompts for Omen System Optimizer or any application for a standard user without disabling UAC or providing admin privileges, you can use the built-in Windows Task Scheduler to create a task that runs with elevated privileges when needed. Here's how you can set up a shortcut for this.

Please note: While this method will help avoid UAC prompts, it's important to use it responsibly and with caution.

Open Task Scheduler:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog.
  • Type "taskschd.msc" and press Enter.

Create a New Task:

  • In the Task Scheduler, click on "Create Task..." on the right-hand side.

General Tab:

  • Give the task a name in the "Name" field (e.g., "Run Omen System Optimizer").
  • In the "Security Options" section, select "Run with highest privileges."

Triggers Tab:

  • Click "New" to create a new trigger.
  • You can choose when you want the task to run, e.g., "At log on," "At startup," etc. Choose the option that best suits your needs.

Actions Tab:

  • Click "New" to create a new action.
  • In the "Action" dropdown, select "Start a program."
  • In the "Program/script" field, browse and select the Omen System Optimizer or the executable that you want to run without UAC prompts. It should be located within the Omen Gaming Hub folder.

Conditions Tab:

  • You can configure any specific conditions under which this task will run, based on your preferences. Adjust these settings as needed.

Settings Tab:

  • You can configure additional settings such as delays, retries, etc., as per your requirements.

Finish:

  • Click "OK" to create the task.

Once you've created this task, you can then create a shortcut to run this task. Here's how.

Right-click on the desktop or any location where you want to create the shortcut.

Select "New" and then "Shortcut."

In the "Create Shortcut" window, type the following command and click "Next":

schtasks /run /tn "TaskName"

Replace "TaskName" with the name you gave to your scheduled task in Task Scheduler.

Provide a name for the shortcut and click "Finish."

Now, when the standard user double-clicks this shortcut, it will run the task you created in Task Scheduler, and it should launch the Omen System Optimizer without UAC prompts. This allows you to run the program with elevated privileges without providing admin privileges to the user.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
