Elite X2 G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

In the device maanger the UCSI USB Connection Manager staes; STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE

I've tried updating the drivers but it says I'm at the most recent already.

Anyone came across this as well?

Getting the same problem on the ZBook 15u G3.

Updating to the newest BIOS  HP Firmware Pack Q78 (V 01.04.00 Rev A) - temporarily worked - but after a day of two of normal operations its reverted back to:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE

Problem is we can't charge with the Thunderbolt port.

Hi,

I had this issue with the following setup:

HP EliteBook 840 G5 connected to a Philips Brilliance 241B7Q (port replicator model).

I had 9 of the exact same setup, each with varying results. Some perfect, but some not charging via USBC (and the screen bit-depth 6-bit instead of 8-bit).

However, to fix the charging issue, I found that in Device Manager, updating the (Firmware > )System Firmware (BIOS) from the default Microsoft to the HP driver fixed the USB Connector Manager. Some updated via the Update Driver method. Some I had to download and install manually via the .exe. After reboot and successful install, Device Manager sometimes still reported System Firmware. I ran Update Driver again and after it found the installed driver it updated to HP Q78 System Firmware. No further reboot was required. Sometimes charging can still be a bit intermittent, but at least the device does not have the problem anymore. Disconnecting the USBC from the laptop and reconnecting regains power charging.

Latest driver available to me is 1.07. The Release notes documented the problems discussed.
