HP Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to connect a USB 2.0 device to my HP Envy x360, but my HP does not detect the device and I cannot pull the files from the USB 2.0 device which I need. I have previously connected this device (NEWAY N765 embedded all in one PC) with older laptops. Is there an easy fix?

My laptop is running MS Windows 10 Home (64-bit) and the NEWAY N765 is running Windows Embedded 7.

Please let me know if more info is needed.

Thanks,

Jeff

@drdizzle

It does support USB 2.0 flash drive. What is your USB 2.0 device ? Is it a normal USB flash/thumb drive or something else ? If something else, what is it ? I can't find NEWAY N765  anywhere.

Hi Banhien,

The Neway N765 is a tablet PC which I use to operate a robotic exercise system. The tablet PC is described by the manufacturer here:

http://m.neway-en.com/tablet/7-tablet/durable-tablet-pc.html

I am connecting with a mini-USB on the tablet PC side. When plugging into the USB port on the HP Envy, there is no apparent recognition of the plugged in and powered up tablet PC (e.g., no beep, no additional device shown in device manager, and no additional drive appearing in the explorer window). On an old Windows 7 laptop, which I no longer have, the device was recognized instantly.

Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,

Jeff

Correction:

I had previously stated that there was no apparent detection of the device. However, I can now see the device in Device Manager. However, the only functionality I appear to have is to right click and go to properties or troubleshoot the device... I do not see any means to tap into the tablet PC’s files using an explorer browser. When I troubleshoot the device, I get a response that the problem has been fixed and that the connection to the USB device may have been lost. After troubleshooting, I still don’t see the device in Explorer.

Might there be other issues I need to resolve to enable me to view the contents of the device via my HP Envy via Explorer and/or other means of accessing the files on the device (e.g., via MS DOS prompt)?

Thanks,

Jeff
