Computer decided it needed to update BIos automatically.  After the update, the USB-C ports no longer worked, can't charge computer or anything. Battery dead. How do I solve now???

Hi @Loloa

Welcome to the HP Support Community! Thanks for posting your query!

We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for explaining what’s happened so far—it sounds incredibly frustrating, especially with the battery now drained. Let’s get a clear picture so we can isolate the issue and guide you precisely.

Could you help me with a few details first:

  1. Exact model of your laptop (e.g., HP Spectre x360 14-efxxxx, Envy x360 15-ewxxxx, etc.)?
  2. Was the BIOS update done through Windows Update, HP Support Assistant, or manually from BIOS/UEFI?
  3. Were the USB-C ports used for both charging and data before the update, or only for one of those?
  4. Do you have access to a USB-C charger or dock that previously worked with this laptop?
  5. Is the laptop completely unresponsive now (no lights, no fan, no screen), or does it power on with another charger or adapter?

Once I have this, I’ll guide you through the most effective recovery path.

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
