Hi My touch screen has stopped working.

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03488148

When I follow this link I'm asked the following:

Update the touch screen driver in Device Manager (HP 15-abxxx, 15-acxxx, 15-adxxx, 15-afxxx, 15-ajxx...
Reinstall the original touch screen device driver that came installed on your computer using the following steps:
  1. In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
  2. Expand Mice and other pointing devices.
  3. Right-click the USB Touchscreen Controller(C04D).
  4. Select the option Browse my computer for driver software.
  5. Select the option Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  6. Select USB Input Device, and click Next.
  7. Follow the onscreen instructions to install the driver.
  8. When driver installation is complete, confirm the touch screen is functioning properly.
If the touch screen still does not respond after reinstalling the driver, continue to the next step.

However I'm missing USB Touchscreen Controller (C04D). Can you let me know how I install this please as cannot find it anywhere

Hey there! @adsross123, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand the touchscreen has stopped responding on your PC.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?

Is the touchscreen working in BIOS?

Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.

As you mentioned you are getting USB Touchscreen Controller(C04D) not present on your PC.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

Try updating the touchscreen drivers and BIOS and touchscreen drivers on your PC and check if it helps.

You can update the drivers using HP support assistant.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

Also, Please try few steps recommended below.

In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device.
If the option to enable the device is included in the menu, click Enable.

Reinstall the original touchscreen device driver that came installed on your computer using the following steps:
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device and select Uninstall.
Confirm the uninstallation.
Restart the computer to reinstall the touchscreen driver.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try the steps recommended below.

In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow. Make sure to include the space between sfc and the /.
Press Enter and wait while System File Checker scans for corrupted files.
When scanning is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
If the file checker found and replaced any corrupted files, restart the computer and check the performance.
If the file checker did not find any corrupted files or found corrupted files but could not replace them, go to the next step.
If System File Checker finds corrupted files but cannot replace them, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. DISM checks the corrupted files; then downloads and replaces the files using Windows Update.
In Windows, open a web browser.
   NOTE:
You need to be connected to the Internet to use DISM.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Make sure to include the space before each / in the command line.
Press Enter and wait while DISM works. This might take several minutes.
If DISM finds corrupted files, it replaces them using Windows Update. If this occurs, after DISM is finished, restart your computer and see if the performance has improved.

Hi

Thank you for coming back to me.

I've tried the above and it is still not working.

I have an HP Pavilion x360 - 14-ba090sa.

In the guide you provided online, this driver - USB Touchscreen Controller(C04D) is missing. Is there anyway i can re-install it please?

Or is it a different issue.

In addition in the HID- Complaint touch screen properties, events log I'm getting the following:

@adsross123, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.

As you mentioned you are getting 0xC0000451 on your PC.

Try the steps recommended below.

  • In the search box on the taskbar, type Device Manager, then select Device Manager.

  • Select the arrow next to Human Interface Devices and select HID-compliant touch screen.

  • Select the Action tab at the top of the window. Select disable or enable.

Following on from the instructions above, with Device Manager still open, right click the HID-compliant touch screen and select Update Driver Software….

You’ll want to Search automatically for updated driver software. This will scan Microsoft’s database for any updates available for your touchscreen device. Follow the wizard through as necessary, then restart and see if your problem is resolved.

Rollback the Drivers

For this, again in Device Manager, right-click the HID-compliant touch screen and then select Properties. Then switch to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try performing a push button reset on your PC and check if it helps.

I've tried this and it is still not working. There are no updates for the drivers and the option to roll back the drivers is greyed out.

I've also done a push button reset and this didn't help.

Please advise
