All drivers for this model:
Software and drivers for HP EliteBook 850 G7 Notebook PC
To see the entire list, click "All drivers"
BIOS update web page for this model:
HP BIOS and System Firmware (S70, S73)
If you are having trouble downloading the file, switch browser to Internet Explorer.
Presumably to the end of 2021, IE will still work AND does work if other browsers have locked access to ftp.

Hi Dragon Fur, I received the link and i've downloaded the file. Thank you very kindly for your help. I won't be able to say that it works until I get back in the office to update the BIOS in question. I do appreciate the assist though...
Best regards,

You are welcome.
Generally BIOS updates complete as intended.
The "official" recommendation is that you update the BIOS only when it is necessary for security, when the update is needed to fix a problem, or the update allows you to accomplish a particular type of change.
The usual precautions can help ensure a healthy system accepts the BIOS update.
For example,
- ONLY update the BIOS when you are not in the middle of other tasks.
- Do not use the HP Support Assistant to update the BIOS.
- If you are using HPIA (business system update software), this software can handle fussy BIOS update with or without other updates in the list.
- Best option: Update the BIOS by itself after all Windows and other updates are completed and the system has been restarted.
- Before you make changes to the system, ensure all your backups are current, complete, and that the data is backed up on other than the local system.
- Keep the AC power connected during the entire process.
- Keep animals, children, and all people, creatures, and interruptions away from the computer during the update (yes, all of these have happened).
- If the update fails, wait several minutes. Next, look at the symptoms before leaping to force a shut down, rip apart, throw the computer. Can it be fixed? Maybe - ask first, then panic.
- Know that even if you do everything "just right", BIOS updates can fail.
