I have 2 hp stream laptops for my kids and when I’m trying to download or update any apps i.e Netflix, Roblox, I open the App Store, type in what app I am looking for and when I click on to the app it closes down the App Store and won’t let me download/update any apps? They were only bought at Christmas time

Welcome to the HP User Community.
Caveat
I know as little (or less) about Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode as anyone else who has never had to use it.
===============================================================================
A few ideas which might be worthwhile or a waste of time...
Stream computers have (used to have) notoriously tiny disks that have to hold not only the Operating System but also any downloaded programs or software. You might be out of storage room on the devices.
Windows Updates might be pending a Restart after installing an update. Normally a pending Restart does not break anything, but it is certainly possible. Also try checking "Windows Updates" in case there are any new updates that are needed.
The Store might be broken - yes, it is weird that it would impact two different computers at the same time. ?
If you can open the Store at all, try opening your "Library" (button in lower left corner,
See if you can "Update" whatever is in the Store.
Check - it is even possible the "Store" itself will update (it is, after all, an app). ?

Ask the Community: Microsoft Community
Why? IF the issue is in any way connected to the odd Windows type, the Microsoft people might well have a better idea of what is going on...
