Whenever I open a setup file of type .exe, it redirects to microsoft appstore to get an app to install such files, where I am unable to get such an app. What should I do to install any software ?

Hi:
It sounds to me like your notebook came with Windows in S-Mode which means you can only install apps you can get from the Microsoft Store.
If you need to install other apps not available in the Microsoft Store, you will need to switch out of S-Mode.
See this link for how to do that.

Once you have switched out of S-mode, you cannot go back to S-mode unless your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that you can use to factory reset your notebook.
