HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-da0000 (903S8AV)

I have a brand new HP Envy laptop and I'm unable to open any documents or pictures that I've downloaded.  I also can't open any pictures.  It looks like they are going to open (the blue wheel turns like it's going to open) but then when the blue wheel stops turning, nothing happens. Fore example,  I did a graphic on Canva today and I uploaded it, saved it to my hard drive, then when I wanted to open it, nothing happens.

Look in the event viewer for an error message: timeout, disk retry

Look in both the system and applications of the windows event log..

Where is your download folder?  If you changed your default download location, you might have selected a location that has security requirements.  Is the download location a network or USB device?

Some downloads ask if you really want to keep the file.   The message asking if you really want to keep it will be displayed by Edge or Chrome.  If you don't click "keep" the download will be stuck.
