I am trying to set-up my yahoo email via the windows app and getting this error message. Done it a few times and still getting same thing.

Adding your email address to Windows mail might fail if you are using two-step verification in your Yahoo Security.

This is essentially the same requirements that Google uses:
app password
or
less secure
What else?
If you cannot stand it, create an email account to be used with your Scan-to-Email and other mail app setups.
Add that mail account to Windows Mail.
