Hello,
I have been dealing with unusually long BIOS boot times on my ZBook Firefly 15.6" G8. It originally had its stock NVMe SSD, which I recently replaced with a brand new Gen 4 Samsung NVMe SSD. I was expecting the boot time—previously around 50 seconds—to drop significantly. However, it only decreased to about 45 seconds.
I then optimized the system in Windows: ran drive optimization, enabled maximum performance mode for the SSD through Samsung Magician etc. Still, the boot time remained at 45 seconds.
Afterward, I adjusted several settings in the BIOS, which helped quite a bit. I managed to bring the BIOS boot time down to 30 seconds, which is a big improvement. However, my older ZBook 15u G5 achieves a BIOS time of just 14 seconds, so I’m curious if it's possible to reach similar speeds on the G8.
Is there anything else I could try to reduce the BIOS time further, or is the ZBook G8 simply not capable of booting that quickly?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
I would recommend following the steps outlined in this (yes, I know, somewhat dated) optimization YouTube video -applies to Windows 11 as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkJBDEDDS5o&t=1042s&ab_channel=Panjno.
The only edit I want to point out is found at timestamp 17:21, this should be eight fs, like so: ffffffff and not seven f's.
This really should make a difference.
Kind Regards,

i have also seen windows pause or appear to hang when looking/scanning for hardware that does not exist and i have also seen software cause delays on bootup
you can quickly test for this by booting in safe mode or modifying the windows startup list of software that loads on startup
Disable All Startup Programs using the MSConfig app
- Open the Run window by pressing Win + R on the keyboard.
- In the Run text box, type msconfig.
- To open MSConfig, click the OK button.
- To disable this feature, uncheck the Load startup items checkbox on the General tab.
- To save the updated boot settings, click Apply and select the OK button.
- On the dialogue box prompt, click Restart.
