Hi

When I try to execute the BIOS update 06F98F16.EXE from the HP Support Assistant, I receive the message of error attached because there is not space in the disk, but my SSD has a lot of space.

What can be the problem?

Thanks in advance

Thanks @Irwin6 for your support, after test all your proposals, just increasing the size of the System Partition Size has worked

Temporary Files and Cache: I have deleted files, but the bios update doesn´t work
User Account Control (UAC): I made sure to run it as administrator, but the bupdate doesn´t work
Antivirus/Firewall: I have deactivated the antivirus, but the bios update doesn´t work
HP Support Assistant Issues: I have downloaded the update from the hp web, but the bios update doesn´t work
Update the BIOS manually: I have tried to update the BIOS manually from a USB as the official HP manual says, but the Firmware Management or BIOS Management option no longer appears in the hardware diagnostics UEFI. Even booting directly from USB, the update does not start

System Partition Size: I have increased the size of the system partition from 100MB to 500MB aprox. and the BIOS update has been performed,

Hi @Kukulcan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are facing an issue with updating BIOS on your laptop.

If you're encountering a disk space error during the BIOS update on your HP Pavilion Laptop, despite having ample SSD space, here are some possible reasons and solutions:

Temporary Files and Cache:

  • Even with free space, temporary files might not be cleared. Use Disk Cleanup:
    • Search for "Disk Cleanup" in the Start menu, select your C: drive, and clean up temporary files.

System Partition Size:

  • Check if the system reserved partition (not visible in regular file explorer) is full. This can happen if the partition is small or has accumulated files:
    • Use a tool like Disk Management (right-click Start > Disk Management) to view the partitions.

User Account Control (UAC):

  • Ensure you're running the update as an administrator. Right-click on the .EXE file and select "Run as administrator".

Antivirus/Firewall:

  • Some antivirus or security software might block the update. Try disabling them temporarily.

HP Support Assistant Issues:

  • Sometimes the HP Support Assistant may not download or execute updates correctly. Try downloading the BIOS update directly from the HP website instead:

Update the BIOS for your PC by clicking on the link.

Make sure you keep only the charger plugged in while updating the BIOS for your PC.

Click on the + sign next to BIOS and then download the file.

Open the file and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Install all the pending updates for the Windows operating system following the below steps.

Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and select Check for updates. If the upgrade is available for your device and you want to proceed, download and install it.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
