HP Omen 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I have a bit of a problem regarding updating my BIOS:

My original problem is opening the Omen Command Center because it won't launch. I did a bit of research and found out that my BIOS might be out of date which is actually the case. So I wanted to update it but the HP support assistant and Windows dont find any BIOS updates.

So I downloaded the newest update via the HP Customer Support website but when I am installing it the error "There is not enough free disk space to complete the system bios and firmware update operation. Delete some files to free disk space then retry again." pops up but I have 60 GB free space on (C:) and 900 GB on (D:).

I've also found a forum post where someone had the same error code and solved it by installing the BIOS using a bios recovery USB disc, which seems a bit risky for me since I am not a computer expert and I dont want to wreck my new notebook for the Omen Command Center.

Is there any other way to update the BIOS than via a Bios recovery USB disc?

Thanks for the answer!

But I've already solved the problem with the help of this post: https://2good4you.net/2019/07/10/hp-firmware-update-error-not-enough-disk-space/

I've created a portable usb-flash drive and simply left it in the usb port while doing the BIOS update and it worked for some reason.

Thank you for the answer anyways.

@ClemensW Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you are facing issues updating BIOS.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Start with a hard reset to release any excessive static on the PC:

  • If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

  • If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

  • With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  • With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Attempt to reset or recover the existing BIOS (if the recent update was interrupted): Click here

Step 1: Verify the current BIOS version installed and the correct ROM Family SSID for your PC

Step 2: Find the BIOS updates

Step 3: Download and install the BIOS update
