Hello,
I currently have a hp probook 6470b with the following specs:
Naam van besturingssysteem Microsoft Windows 10 Pro
Versie 10.0.14393 Build 14393
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2540M CPU @ 2.60GHz, 2601 MHz, 2 core('s), 4 logische processor(s)
BIOS-versie/datum Hewlett-Packard 68ICE Ver. F.40, 31-1-2013
RAM: 16gb
I want to update my bios to the newest version. When i search on the hp support website, i can't find an updated bios for my laptop on windows 10. However, there is one newer (F.66 8 nov 2016) for all other windows versions.
Is it safe to install this update on my windows 10 machine? Last time i updated the bios on my other machine(Elitebook 2560p) it went wrong and the machine is useless now. (even did it with hp support assistent)
Hope anyone can help.
Kind regards

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
To answer your question -- NO -- it is not safe to do that.
HP makes their BIOS update OS-version specific, so if you download a BIOS update for an OS version other than Win10, most likely, it will not even run and will error out.

Thanks for the response!
Yesterday, before i got the anwser, i was feeling stubborn and did the bios update. I thought; what could go wrong if the ROM is the same and the bios update is for all other windows versions. And i really wanted the updates, especially the ones in F.46;
- Updates the VBIOS to version 13.12.0.45 for discrete video graphics systems.
- Updates the AMD GOP driver to version 1_53.
I was having some trouble with especially the designated video card. Sometimes the screen "zoomed in" and stayed there for 5 secondes when working on a model in solidworks or inventor.
Luckily, it worked. Almost had a heartattack when booting and my screen stayed blank, after waiting 10 minutes i finally figured out my second screen was plugged in and that was my primary.
I have to say the laptop handels much smoother now and feels a lot faster when using it. It can now handle my solidworks and inventor without ever stuttering. And i don't have noticed any problems anymore!
Although it went good for me, i wouldn't suggest others to do it because of the chances of a brick. I fully support your anwser.
