I'm unsure how to explain my problem but I will do my best. I have an HP laptop that is not working properly. It has been like this for a while now and we had given up on it, but I want to try again. It is very slow and when I hover the mouse over the small bar at the bottom of the screen (I think it is called the task bar) all i get is a small blue circle. I have tried pressing the windows button but nothing happens. I even tried to reset it but it did not work. I have no idea what is wrong with it

Hello @MissRed
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
- Try with hardware diagnostics first to rule out a hardware problem - use the built-in BIOS/UEFI diagnstics - F2 button -> here is more info how to do it >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JXUp43ahHA
- Perform Quick test / Fast test , or if these are not available, perform hard disk drive and memory check. Let me know the results
- Post back what is your HP product model and product number (p/n) -> here is how to find this information >> http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108
- What is the Windows version/edition that you use ?

Thank you.
Since the hardware test fails, this is not a good sign. In order to get the details, can you post the failure code from the test ?
It will give me a lot of information.
What part of the Fast test failed ?
