Hello guys! I have a problem with a laptop, the Victus 16 r0009sl. I bought it from Amazon Warehouse and it didn't had the charger. So i bought one unofficial from Amazon who was compatible with this latpop, with 19.5V and 10.3A. So it is a 200w charger instead of 230 wich is what the latpop requires. Now let's talk about the problem.
I can play really really well, with the charger plugged or unplugged. Every triple A get maxed out plugged or unplugged. But.
But if i'm on battery and i decide to charge the laptop, when i put the charger in the game goes from 100 to 1 frame per second, with Gpu at 99% but with minimum clock speed. This happens like 80% of the time i decide to charge while playing. And sometimes the next time i try to execute a game it starts lagging from the "developer menu".
The problem is that in Italy no one ship the original charger for this latpop and i'm not even sure i can find one on the Internet.
Do you have any solution? Is the problem the charger for real? I've everything set to maximum performance, on Windows, on Omen gaming hub. Updating Nvidia drivers didn't help.
Edit: forgot to say that if i unplug the charger after the stutter began, the game still runs on 1 frame per second. And by the way the OS in background run fine, really fast even if the game is stuttering like hell.

Hi @Scuffi92,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're dealing with a power delivery issue that's affecting your laptop's performance, particularly under high-load conditions such as gaming. Here are a few considerations and potential solutions to explore:
Power Requirement Mismatch
The fact that your unofficial charger is rated at 200W while your laptop requires a 230W charger is likely at the heart of the problem. High-performance laptops like yours are designed to draw a significant amount of power, especially when gaming. The charger's inability to meet the laptop's power demands can lead to performance throttling as the system tries to manage the insufficient power supply. This can explain why the GPU clocks down significantly when the charger is plugged in under load, resulting in a drastic drop in performance.
Solutions and Workarounds
Find an Official Charger: While you've mentioned difficulty finding an official charger in Italy, it might be worth looking at international options. Some retailers or second-hand marketplaces may offer global shipping. Brands often have compatible chargers across different models, so a charger from a different but similar model may work.
Use Third-Party Compatible Chargers with Caution: If finding an official charger is not an option, look for third-party chargers that are specifically designed to match or exceed your laptop's power requirements. It's crucial to find one that can provide the full 230W (or more) that your laptop needs.
Check for BIOS Updates and Power Settings: Sometimes, performance issues under specific conditions can be resolved through a BIOS update. Manufacturers may release updates that improve power management or compatibility with non-original chargers. Also, recheck your laptop's power settings in both Windows and any manufacturer-specific software like the Omen Gaming Hub. Ensure that no settings might be inadvertently throttling performance when switching power sources.
Monitor Thermal Performance: Power delivery issues can sometimes be compounded by thermal throttling. Even if the operating system and background processes seem unaffected, heavy tasks like gaming can push your laptop's thermal limits, especially when the power supply is fluctuating. Monitoring your laptop's temperatures might provide additional insights.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
