Hi there @Catau, and welcome to HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out with your concern. I'm glad to assist you today.

Based on the image and your description, the issue seems to be that the front-facing camera is detected but not displaying any video, even though the LED briefly flashes indicating hardware is being accessed.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue on your Victus Gaming Laptop 15-fa0029nq:

Check Camera Privacy Settings

Windows might be blocking camera access for apps.

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  2. Ensure Camera access is turned ON.
  3. Make sure “Let apps access your camera” is enabled.
  4. Scroll down and ensure the Camera app has permission.

Check Device Manager

Make sure the camera is properly detected and enabled.

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand Imaging Devices or Cameras.
  3. Look for something like HP Wide Vision HD Camera.
    • If it has a yellow warning icon, right-click and choose Update driver.
    • If it’s disabled, right-click and choose Enable device.

Reinstall the Camera Driver

Sometimes reinstalling the driver helps.

  1. In Device Manager, right-click the camera and choose Uninstall device.
  2. Restart your laptop. Windows should reinstall the driver automatically.
  3. Alternatively, download the latest driver from HP: Official HP® Support

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

To check if the camera hardware is functioning.

  1. Restart your laptop and press F2 repeatedly to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
  2. Go to Component Tests > Webcam Test.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check for Windows Updates

Sometimes updates fix driver or compatibility issues.

  1. Go to Settings > Windows Update.
  2. Click Check for updates and install any available updates.

Use HP Support Assistant

HP’s tool can automatically detect and fix issues.

  1. Download and install HP Support Assistant. HP Support Assistant | HP® Support
  2. Run the tool and check for camera-related diagnostics or updates.

If none of these steps work, it could be a hardware issue with the camera module. In that case, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.
