Hello,
As the title suggests, I have been having issues with my keyboard for a few days now. Long story short, some vowels (usually 'e', 'i' and 'o') and a few adjacent keys would occasionally stop working. I cannot identify a precise cause for this issue, as it seemingly occurs randomly and often goes away after some time, only to reappear later. I have found similar topics and tried the recommended solutions, but nothing seems to work: I rebooted my laptop, uninstalled the drivers, updated the BIOS, tried with the Windows inbuilt troubleshooting app... you name it! Any clue as to what might be causing this issue?
Thanks in advance!

Have you run diagnostics?
Tap the ESC key after powering on. . Tap it once a second after you see the LEDs on the keyboard flash. When you see the startup menu, press F2 to run diagnostics.
If those keys fail to work then replace the keyboard or the keys.
go to this site and enter your serial number. Look for the keyboard with the correct language.
There are a number of companies. Some provide a video to show how to replace a key. Possibly you could remove the key and it's latch, clean the area and then put the same key back in.

Hey, there! Thanks for the reply and yes, I've tried with diagnostics, but no dice. Can't seem to find my keyboard on HP PartSurfer either. Today I'm going to try with an external (that is, Bluetooth) keyboard and see if it works. It is perhaps high time that I change not just they keyboard, but notebook...

I have no idea why the keyboard was not in the parts list.
I tried surfing for 15-dw and then picked a few at random till I found a keyboard part number

The problem with Bluetooth and Wi-fi keyboards is they're only good after Windows starts. You cannot get into the bios with them. Occasionally I see a message press F1 to continue and I have to go hunt for my USB keyboard

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out with this. I think I have identified the problem, but I don't know if it makes sense: the keyboard only works if the screen is at a certain tilt-angle, so I assume that the issue is somewhere in the wiring of my laptop's screen. Does that make any sense?

I suspect if you flex the keyboard the keys will not work. I'm pretty sure it's the keyboard and not the wiring.
