Model 17
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Screen goes blank in Chrome after an hour or so and I have to shut it down and restart it. Laptop is less than 6 months old and has extended warranty.  Called HP customer support who would only be too glad to CHARGE ME to fix it.  I have an OLD Vario that's on it's 7th year, clunky and the fan runs on high all the time but I've NEVER had a problem with customer service. Is this typical of HP?  If I have a problem with a part on my car I shouldn't have to track down the manufacturer of the part, right?

I don't think HP would cover software for over 3 months. For normal hardware, warranty is one year (2 years on some countries) by laws, EXCEPT for some business class machines.

You can always extend HARDWARE warranty,.not software (reason: HP does not own software, except for HP products which you can download free any time). But you can always try to contact HP in your country directly.

Regards.

To answer your last question -- if the car part was something NOT supplied by the manufacturer (like a different brand of Radio), then YES -- you would have to track down the manufacturer, as the car dealer would not service parts made by other companies.
