Hi,
My laptop is a few years old and I used to use my webcam just fine when I first go it. The webcam used to use the software Youcam Cyberlink Webcam and is built into my laptop. Recently I needed to use my webcam but it did not seem to work. I have looked for the software but appears to be missing. Trying to download a new software on the HP website it does not give any webcam software when I say what version my laptop is. I have tried to find the software on device manager, however there is no imaging devices. When I open my camera on the laptop the following error message appears: 0xA00F4244<NoCamerasAreAttached>.
I know it is quite old but surly there must be a software which will work on my device?. Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Clare

Thank you for the update.
I have a few steps that should help resolve this concern.
Here's a related post that seems to have helped others: Click here
(Though the header may be different, the solution should work for your concern as well).
For troubleshooting the webcam issues:
You can open webcam software, such as You-Cam, Skype, or Live Messenger, but the video does not display in the main viewing window. Use the following steps, in the order, they are presented, until the webcam video displays in your webcam software:
Step 1: Make sure the webcam is the selected video/capture device for your webcam software
Your webcam must be selected as the video capture device in your webcam software. If the computer has multiple video input sources, your webcam software might be connected to something other than your webcam.
To select the webcam as your video source, open your webcam software and look for the video camera, video source, or video caption in the software's properties or preferences. Here are some common examples of selecting the webcam as the video source:
NOTE:
The name of your webcam might display as USB Video Device, HP Webcam, USB 2.0 Camera, HP Pavilion Webcam, or similar. If you do not know the name, select a name to see if video displays. If not, try selecting other video device names until you see the video from your webcam display in the window.

HI Praveen,
Thank you for the advice.
Unfortunately when I use the guidance from 'my webcam light it on but not showing an image. not working in pre installed programmes or skype. ' the Recovery Manager does not give an option to install a webcam in the drivers and applications reinstall.
I have looked at the second link you sent. Using the HP Customer Support - Software an Driver Download page the list of software shown for my device does not show a webcam. Is there any way to obtain the webcam software as it originally worked with the laptop but for some reason stopped working and is not identifiable.
Kind regards,
Clare

I understand your concerns.
Please perform the below steps and check for the issue.
Step 1 Hard Reset -
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected.
3) Remove the Battery.
Note - This step might not be applicable if you have a desktop or a computer that has a built-in battery.
4) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds.
5) Plug-in the Adapter and put the Battery back into the computer.
6) Try to turn on the computer.
Step 2 Re-install the Webcam driver -
1) In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
2) Expand the Imaging Devices.
3) Right-click on the HP Webcam and select Uninstall.
4) Confirm the uninstallation.
5) Restart the computer to reinstall the Webcam driver.
Step 3 Run the Hardware & Devices Troubleshooter -
1) In the search box, type and open "Troubleshoot".
2) Click on "Hardware & Devices".
3) Click on "Run the Troubleshooter" and follow the on-screen instructions.
4) Restart the computer after troubleshooting is completed
Step 4 End the program -
1) Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to invoke the Task Manager.
2) Go to the “Processes” tab.
See which programs are currently running in the background of the system and If you found an app that uses Camera, end that program.
Step 5 Reset Camera app -
Right click on Windows Start > Apps & features > Scroll down and click Camera> Click Advanced options > Click Reset > Restart your computer.
Go to Microsoft Store > Click 3 horizontal dots top right > Downloads and Updates > Check if there's any update for this app > If yes, update it. on
Hope this helps!
Let me know how that goes.
